reel faith film series 2017

  • FREE

4 August  / "FREEDOM". An African film about the civil war in Monrovia in the 90s. It's a great message of faith, difficulty, and freedom. Facilitator: Mark Stryker, MDiv. Associate Pastor for Christian Formation at First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley. 

11 August  / "THE OTHER SON". Two young men, one Israeli and one Palestinian, discover they were accidentally switched at birth. Facilitator: Marilyn McEntyre, PhD. Has taught literature courses at Westmont College, Princeton Seminary, and NCB. Her books of poetry and prose include "Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies". 

18 August / "SILENCE". Martin Scorsese directs this story of Christian persecution in 17th century Japan, based on the novel by Shusaku Endo. Facilitator: Sharon Gallagher, MTS. Professor of Christianity and the Media at NCB. She is also the editor of "Radix" magazine, for which she writes a film column.

25 August  / "TO THE WONDER". A romantic drama about old and new loves directed by Terrence Malick. Facilitator; Ryan Pemberton, MTS. Minister for University Engagement at First Presbyterian Church at Berkeley. He is the author of "Called: My Journey to C. S. Lewis's House and Back Again."
